Do you HATE public speaking? Are you TERRIFIED to stand in front of people?

When you think of speaking, do you get nervous, anxious, even sweaty? You don’t have to be afraid any longer。

This book can help you。 You will learn 7 strategies you can begin today。 These strategies will give you a new perspective, they will prepare you, and they will give you actions to practice。 As you implement these strategies, your fear will begin to fade。

It can seem like everyone is a gifted speak when you watch TED talks or compare yourself to skilled co-workers giving presentations。 Don't get caught up in comparison。 Instead, take action to improve YOUR ability and to overcome your fear。

If you struggle when you speak, then you are not alone。 Public speaking is the #1 fear in America。

Millions of people are terrified at the prospect of going up on stage and addressing a crowd even more than they’re afraid of death。 And yet, it’s an unavoidable experience if you want to succeed in this world。

Maybe it’s a business presentation for your career path, a speech in school, or a toast at your best friend’s wedding。 Fear of speaking grips you。 But it doesn’t have to。 Not anymore。

Full of relatable anecdotes, executable tips, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, this book promises to teach you 7 proven strategies to help you find your inner presenter。 Don’t wait any longer。 Today is the day you take charge of your anxiety, calm your nerves, and – most importantly – speak with no fear。

Excerpt & Encouragement。   BEFORE YOU BEGIN: BELIEVE

I welcome you to jump into the strategies in the book。 Just promise me that you won’t start with doubt。

Doubt deters you from taking strategies seriously。 Doubt erodes confidence。 Doubt makes truth seem like lies。 Doubt will feed your fear and give you more speaking nightmares。 So you have to let go of your doubts and start believing in yourself。 A BIG part of overcoming fear is believing in yourself。 Begin with belief。

“Where you are is  not  where you have to be。”

This sentence was included in my introduction。 Do you believe it? Do you believe in yourself? At least some part of you does。 Otherwise you wouldn’t have picked up this book! Let’s build on this belief。 Take a moment and whisper the immortal words from the classic story, The Little Engine That Could, “I think I can。 I think I can。 I think I can。”

Are you struggling? Do you find yourself dwelling on negative thoughts? “It’s not going to work for me。”“I’m just not a good speaker。”“I’m an introvert。 I just can’t。”“I’ve tried in the past, and it didn’t work。”

If you are struggling to believe, will you suspend disbelief while you read?

Read this book as a believer, not as a skeptic。 Education will often teach you to think critically。 Keep that mindset for work and academics。 This book needs you to think receptively。

Very enjoyable! The layout of the book and all of the personal references really resonated with me。 I look forward to future releases from this author。

Good but not greatI felt as though there was too much background noise to the points that needed to be made。 Not everyone has dark past to overcome before speaking。 I did learn some things to do to help me improve my speaking

The author touches on the psychological sides of public speaking more than hands-on techniques。 I would say it is good enough。 Easy to understand, hard to master。Quote:Just because their eyes on you, doesn't mean their thoughts on you。 The author touches on the psychological sides of public speaking more than hands-on techniques。 I would say it is good enough。 Easy to understand, hard to master。Quote:Just because their eyes on you, doesn't mean their thoughts on you。 。。。more

Mike Ackerman is a good cheerleader。 I needed a book like this。 But I’ll reserve judgment until I try his suggestions and see if they work。

Read this to get some ideas for my communication classes that I teach。 Found the material to be a little obvious and too auto-biographical。

Short, sweet, and to the point。 The work will be in doing the activities。 Very positive!

A bit more basic than what I was looking for。 I don't believe that this book alone could take someone from a severe level of stage fright to completely functional speaker as it claims。 Some small take aways but otherwise not as impactful as I had hoped for。 Advertisements for the author's business at the end of the book are tacky at best。 A bit more basic than what I was looking for。 I don't believe that this book alone could take someone from a severe level of stage fright to completely functional speaker as it claims。 Some small take aways but otherwise not as impactful as I had hoped for。 Advertisements for the author's business at the end of the book are tacky at best。 。。。more

What a terrible book。 I've read my fair share of communication books and this book essentially regurgitates everything from past books, with little to nothing new or revolutionary。 What's even more surprising is how highly it's rated on Goodreads。 It's filled to the brim with positive affirmations and cliche tropes ("You can do this", "I believe in you") but it doesn't provide readers with the fundamentals of public speaking to helping them manifest this to action。 Top it off with the fact that What a terrible book。 I've read my fair share of communication books and this book essentially regurgitates everything from past books, with little to nothing new or revolutionary。 What's even more surprising is how highly it's rated on Goodreads。 It's filled to the brim with positive affirmations and cliche tropes ("You can do this", "I believe in you") but it doesn't provide readers with the fundamentals of public speaking to helping them manifest this to action。 Top it off with the fact that the author repeats himself again and again, with more than a quarter of the book being rendered redundant and a waste of the reader's time。 。。。more

Great help!I took speech classes in college, however, it was not enough! I often felt that I needed to advance my speech skills and it call starts with controlling your fear。 This is a very good book, with good reasons and logic, which is coming from the author experience。 Nice book!

This was a great book for the research I am doing。 If you are nervous about speaking in public and want a warm-up this is it。 Also, go find a Toastmaster's club。 It will change that fear and will give you a place to practice your new skillset。 This was a great book for the research I am doing。 If you are nervous about speaking in public and want a warm-up this is it。 Also, go find a Toastmaster's club。 It will change that fear and will give you a place to practice your new skillset。 。。。more

Speak With No FearI have struggled with public speaking my entire career。 I liked the book’s action steps in each chapter so I can work to get better。 I especially liked connecting with the audience and speak to one。

Relatable and actionable adviceI’ve always struggled with speaking to groups。 While I feel that I’ve improved significantly in this area over the years my discomfort still remains。 I found this book both relatable and packed with thoughtful advice that I’m certain will help me continue to improve。

You can get some helpful tips here and there, but I still think the book is not structured enough。 Some of the strategies mentioned in the book are too abstract, and there are no clear actions you can take to work on it。 I have to admit it's hard to write a book in public speaking, especially some concepts and techniques you really need to practice or learn from someone else。 It could be a good starting point though to help you start working on your public speaking。 You can get some helpful tips here and there, but I still think the book is not structured enough。 Some of the strategies mentioned in the book are too abstract, and there are no clear actions you can take to work on it。 I have to admit it's hard to write a book in public speaking, especially some concepts and techniques you really need to practice or learn from someone else。 It could be a good starting point though to help you start working on your public speaking。 。。。more

In general, it was a great read! However, this book serves more like a reference when you have an imminent speech to deliver。 Although I do learnt something, the author seemed to spend a lot of time giving some superfluous motivational statements without expounding each topic in great depth。 I would probably give this book a higher rating if the author can give more details in each chapter。

Qat Wanders

Helpful and inspiring read that takes you through the author’s journey of getting on stage。 It helped me realize that I’m not the only one who has royally screwed up at stuff like this, but that is no excuse to stop。 He encourages us to keep going and provides high-level suggestions for getting us there。His personal story is very unique but still somehow easy to relate to。 And it also shows he definitely practices what he preaches when it comes to putting together a compelling story。

Christopher Galvez

MotivationalThis book was refreshing as the author doesn’t just offer a “how-to”, but rather provides a vivid account of his own life to illustrate his struggles。

Demetrius Strong

Good book to improve your skills I don’t think I have a distinct problem with public speaking, but I always want to improve my comfortability with it。 This book is great for that purpose and it’s amazing for if you’re terrified。

Luka

Great book to read if u got anything that has to do with public speaking in the future。

Like many of us, speaking in front of others has never been my strong suit。 I have long believed that some of us simply are not the "type" to be able to speak in front of a group with skill and poise。 After reading this book, I am certain that I can grow in this area and become the competent and self-assured speaker that I've desired to be。The author's experience with many types of public speaking really shines in this book, and he positively de-mystifies what it takes to gain proficiency in thi Like many of us, speaking in front of others has never been my strong suit。 I have long believed that some of us simply are not the "type" to be able to speak in front of a group with skill and poise。 After reading this book, I am certain that I can grow in this area and become the competent and self-assured speaker that I've desired to be。The author's experience with many types of public speaking really shines in this book, and he positively de-mystifies what it takes to gain proficiency in this area。 This book is full of practical, easy-to-follow advice, as well as real-life stories from his experience speaking that illustrate his content with humor and memorable lessons。 This book is not the dry script that you might expect from a book on public speaking。Lastly, I was thoroughly surprised by the potential applications of the content。 I read this book hoping to gain insight into becoming an effective and confident speaker, but what I drew from it surely surpassed that。 Many of the practices referenced in the book can easily be implemented in daily life to help the reader become a more confident and capable person in general。Would definitely recommend。 。。。more

You be you!The best part was of this book was when the author gave everyone permission to be themselves。 I know I need to give myself permission to be myself more often。 The author’s advice about speaking to one person by building relationships with your audience before hand was also helpful。
